About the video - By Maatibaani : We were inspired to do this song while at Amritapuri, Amma's Ashram in Kerala. When we heard JoyShanti, a Jazz/Blues vocalist from France, we were simply amazed by her energy and requested her to do a song with us! We recorded and shot her on the location on Azheekkal beach amidst all the strange looks from the people! While back in Mumbai, we recorded all the other musicians including us. The flautist Naushadbhai, a flute seller and Bashirbhai on Pinjara (a cotton carder, its not a musical instrument! ) were walking down the lane outside our studio. Struck by their unusual sound, we recorded their parts for the song! The lyrics in Braj language were adapted from the works of great poet Shri " Laghulaal" from Kutchh. The French lyrics are by JoyShanti.
Braj : Tore matwaare naina maare,
Preet rang mope daare.
Tore matwaare naina maare maare maare!
Braj : Chhum chhum chhum chhum chhumak chhumak chhum,
Room jhoom room jhoom rumak jhumak jhum,
Jhana na jhana na jhannjhar jhamkaay gayori,
Than gan than gan thanak thanak than,
Tirakita tirakita tanana tanana tum,
Dhuma kita dhuma kita dhak bajaya gayo ri,
Ab chhod ke na jaa re!
Tore matwaare naina maare maare maare!
This song is for Krishna who is the very being of the Gopi of Vrindavan, such is her surrender for her beloved! She could not anticipate even a moment away from her beloved and she urges Krishna never to leave her.TRANSLATION : Oh! Your enchanting eyes, they take my breath away
They drench me with the color of love.
Chhum.....dhak -(different sound syllables that depict joy in the presence of the beloved) Dont you ever leave me now!
Oh! Your enchanting eyes, they take my breath awayMusic Composed and Produced by Kartik Shah.
"My swords are covered in rust. My body is dirty with soil.
My Soul carries the pain of a thousand wounds. And yet, I rise, over and over again to exist among the living.
I dedicate this piece to the strength of all women who have stayed down in order to be accepted and loved. To all of those who overcame the belief and shattered those chains and paved the road to many yet to come."
