He was born in Jalali near Aligarh, India in 1887. After the
creation of Pakistan in 1947, he moved to Karachi.
Ustad Qamar Jalalvi died in Karachi, Pakistan on 4 October 1968.
Qamar Jalalvi is regarded as one of the best classical Urdu
Ghazal poets. His ghazal poetry has unique simplicity of
expression. A poet from the age of eight, Qamar Jalalvi's
writing had become quite popular by the time he was in his 20s.
He lived a life of financial hardship working for many years at
bicycle repair shops. In India and Pakistan, a teacher of arts is
known as Ustad (master), and the term is also loosely used to
refer to any kind of skilled worker. Qamar Jalalvi was initially
called Ustad because of his bicycle work. Popular with critics,
for his mastery of poetry as well, they dubbed him Ustad Qamar
Jalalvi, once his poetry became popular.
Munni Begum, is a Pakistani vocalist and ghazal singer.
Munni Begum was born Nadira Begum in Murshidabad,
West Bengal, British India in 1955. The third child of seven
children. She first started taking music lessons from the
famous singer Ustad Khwaja Ghulam Mustafa Warsi.
It was this music teacher who gave her this professional
name due to her small size and young age. Subsequently,
she studied in the school of music for three years, and
thereafter, she launched her career.
Her parents migrated from India to East Pakistan in the
early 1950s. East Pakistan later became independent
Bangladesh. She studied in BAF Shaheen School, Dhaka;
however, she moved to Karachi, West Pakistan due to
Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.

अभी खाके ठोकर संभलने न पाए
कि फिर खाई ठोकर संभलते संभलते
उन्हें ख़त में लिखा था दिल मुज़्तरिब है
जवाब उन का आया मुहब्बत न करते
तुम्हें दिल लगाने को किसने कहा था
बहल जाएगा दिल बहलते बहलते
अरे कोई वादा ख़िलाफ़ी की हद है
हिसाब अपने दिल में लगाकर तो देखो
क़यामत का दिन आ गया रफ़्ता रफ़्ता
मुलाक़ात का दिन बदलते बदलते
हमें अपने दिल की तो परवाह नहीं है
मगर डर रहा हूँ ये कमसिन की ज़िद है
कहीं पा-ए-नाज़ुक में मोच आ न जाय
दिल-ए-सख़्त-ए-जाँ को मसलते मसलते
वो मेहमाँ रहे भी तो कब तक हमारे
हुयी शम्मा गुल और डूबे सितारे
‘क़मर’ इस क़दर उन को जल्दी थी घर की
वो घर चल दिये चाँदनी ढलते ढलते
