With the peacock feather on your head slightly shake , 
The crown made of nine types of gems shining  on your head,
With the  fish like ear globes shine on your ears, with smile 
breaking on your moon like face  ,
With scented flowers  which attracted the mind waving on 
his chest, with   those coloured apparels on hips making  
others faint,
With the sweet   pretty flute   adding music  , with the eyes  
of the ladies    showing love ,
With  the flowery scented anklets keeping the tune of music , 
Knowing the mind which showers mercy  joining ogather.

your crown encrusted with 9 gems shining brightly, 
your makara-shaped ear-rings swaying to and fro, a mischievous smile flitting across your lovely (moon-like) face, 
the garlands on your chest (made from very fragrant flowers) moving, intoxicating clothes moving, 
with sweet music issuing from your intoxicating flute, with the women’s 
eyes revealing their infatuation for you, the flowers emitting their fragrance, 
and all the anklets keeping time, you have understood the mind/desire of the 
gOpIs and showering them with your grace, you unite with them as one, and 
dance with them (on the banks of the yamunA).

Ambujam Krishna :

Smt Ambujam Krishna was born on 21st May 1917 as the daughter 
of KV Ranga Iyengar, a leading advocate of Madurai. Her parents 
were great lovers of music and it was but natural that she was taught 
the art. Her tutelage was under Karaikkudi Ganesan and Ganesa 
Bhagavatar. She was married at a young age to her cousin 
TS Krishna, pioneering industrialist and son of TV Sundaram Iyengar, 
the founder of the famed TVS Group of Companies. Post her 
marriage Ambujam Krishna went to Delhi for furthering her 
education and graduated from the Lady Irwin College with 
a degree in Home Science.

An extremely pious individual and an ardent lover of the arts, 
she composed in Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and MaNipravaaLam 
(two or more different languages in the same song). 
Her songs are noted for their imagination, chaste language, 
clarity of thought and inspired spontaneity. Her output has 
been published in four volumes under the title "Geetamala." 
The songs are not the result of planned execution but are 
rather a spontaneous outpouring of divine inspiration. 

Her approximately 600 songs have been set to tunes 
by many well-known vidwans like T.N.Seshagopalan, 
V.V.Sadagopan, Dr.S.Ramanthan, Madurai N.Krishnan, 
K.R.Kedaranathan, Semmangudi Shrinivasa Iyer and 
others who have brought out the bhava of the songs 
beautifully.

Leading a life of simplicity, Smt Krishna devoted her time to 
composing and her songs were compiled and released in four 
volumes titled the Gitamala. Several songs still exist in 
manuscript form. Smt Krishna passed away 
on 20thOctober 1989, having led a life of complete 
artistic fulfillment.
