PARVATI TEACHES A LOT

ABOUT THE PHILOSOPHY, THE MYSTICISM, THE LANGUAGE,
THE ROOTS, THE HISTORY, THE TRADITION, THE MELODY,
THE MUSIC AND THE SPIRITUALITY WHILE SINGING.

TO LISTEN TO HER IS TO BE IN REAL 'SATSANG' .

KAHE RE.....(WHY?)

How we are rocked on the pendulum of life, swinging between hope and dread,
fear and desire! This song asks a simple but fundamental question - Why? Oh
seeker, why are you caught in this place between craving and aversion, lurching,
reeling, swinging up and down, never at peace? This poem by Bhusuku (Bhikshuk) is an example of ‘sandhya bhasha’
(twilight language) employed by Tantric Buddhist masters, who Parvathy
says were wiped out by dominant religions but are the progenitors of
Baul poetry and practice as we know it today. The language is a mix
of early Bengali, Pali and Maithili.
https://youtu.be/7JZ4__GTbjA

ABOUT THE POEM
AS NARRATED BY PARVATI HERSELF

THE POEM
HINDI TRANSLATION

      *

PARVATI EXPLAINS AFTER THE SONG

https://youtu.be/ZdqojkIKvmA

Song : Harivarasanam
Artist : K. J. Yesudas
'Harivarasanam' is a Sanskrit devotional song written in eight stanzas, called 'Ashtakam'.
It was written by Kambakudi Kulathur Srinivasa Iyer, a guruswami, in 1947.

Iyer sang this song many times after Athazha Pooja, just before closing the temple doors.
But, it became a sleeping song just some years later, with the help of
V. Eeswaran Namboothiri, the then head priest (Melsanthi), who sang this song
on the re-consecration day in 1951.
Some ascribe the authorship of Harivarasanam to Konnakathu Janaki Amma (1923).

https://youtu.be/EnChosxHmUw

Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad , (11 August 1887 − 9 April 1952), better known
by the pen name Mahjoor was a poet of the Kashmir Valley He is especially
noted for introducing a new style into Kashmiri poetry and for expanding
Kashmiri poetry into previously unexplored thematic realms.

In addition to his poems in Kashmiri, Mahjoor is also noted for his poetic
compositions in Persian and Urdu.

LYRICS BY GHULAM AHMAD MAHJOOR

Ha Gulo tuhi Masah Wich Won Yaar miyun0’flowers have you see my beloved?
Bul bulo tuhi cheri Toon Dildar miyun
O’nightingale help me find my love
Wini Diwan Poshan prichomm yambar zalan
Tell me o’ narcissus, did my beloved pass by?
Aww ma tohi kun jadu gar miyun?
Did my charmer come by your side
Den poshav josh yith wizlev bagh
The excitement of Pomegranate flowers have made the garden red
Roshe peth yith poshe bagkuk hith karith
Visit me by making an excuse of visiting the flowery garden
Chani yin phele dil baro gulzar miyun
You visiting me will make my garden bloom
Choori lalvun lol zartas ma khabar
Chaye Chaye zaye gov amaar miyun
How would he know how I nursed my agony
He poshak peth guzerem zindagi
My life went away like a jasmine flower
Lanji awji gov na zah baar miyun
The slender branch never felt my weight
Ash Rozum yaar watym az pagah
I remained hopeful my love will come today or tomorrow
Yi karaan soran aw lokchar miyun
In this hope my youth faded away
Ulfatuq sodha kunum gum meyl hytum
I sold my love and bought sorrow in return
Ath tareeqas peth chaliyuv bapar miyun
Like this my story kept on going
Khaste dil Mahjoor Sar sabdith wanan
Broken Hearted Mahjoor after finishing everything says
Tas madanwaras nasa aww aar miyun
That beloved never got any compassion for him
