Indian Fusion Dance by Nitisha Nanda

About the dance and lyrics :

A lover telling the beloved what he means to her
and how his love has made her very happy and
how his playful love has brought her heart alive.

In this piece,Nitisha plays this playful young girl.
Nitisha began her journey in dance more than 20
years ago. She has undergone intensive training
in Odissi, and has also been belly dancing for 8
years now. In this piece ,as the lover, she is
desperate to meet him, pleading him to stop this
game of hide and seek. She tries to lure him by
offering him his favorite meal. She wants to show
him how happy she is and how his love has
become the thread of her very being. She exultingly
compares herself to the light, of the moon, that he is,
telling him that her heart is in a trance, ever since he
has come into her life.

Nitisha Nanda :

Nitisha Nanda, a professional Odissi dancer is
known to blend Odissi with Belly Dance the two
divergent dance forms by drawing out their
dissimilarities and seamlessly complementing them.
The classical performance art form Odissi has
always been known for its graceful movements
and expressions. It exudes elegance and poise.
Add to that the percussive and fluid movements
of alluring belly dance and voila! That's recipe for an
incredible contemporary dance fusion performance.

Odissi is largely based on hand gestures, torso
movements and foot work. Raqs Sharqi aka belly
dancing is all about waist and hip movements.
Moreover, Odissi is a temple dance style and
belly dancing is a social dance form.
They are diverse, but they blend effortlessly
when it comes to technique.

This 28-year-old has been dancing since the last 19 years
and was trained by Guru Hare Krishna Behera and later,
Ipsita Behoora. She is currently under the tutelage of
Sharon Lowen. She is a Delhi University alumni with a
Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Born and brought up in New Delhi, Nitisha is a known name
in New Delhi's performing arts circle and has performed in
stage shows across the world.

Mame Khan :
The first few notes of aalap sung by Manganiyar singer
Mame Khan are enough to hold an audience in thrall.
With a voice that brings images of cool desert nights
and baking sands to mind, the singer, who hails from
the tiny village of Satto in the Jaisalmer district of
Rajasthanhas brought his school of folk music into
the mainstream of Bollywood.
It was Shankar Mahadevan who spotted the artiste
when he was performing soulful numbers for
Ila Arun's daughter's wedding, and made him an
offer to sing Baawre in Luck by Chance
However, it was when the singer appeared in a
Coke Studio episode helmed by Amit Trivedi in
2012 that he shot into the spotlight. Having also
lent his voice to songs in No One Killed Jessica,
I Am and Mirziya, Khan finds it essential to hold
onto his roots in the Manganiyar tradition.
