Na man behooda girde kocha न मैं आवारा गिर्द-ए-कूचा-
Wa bazaar megardam ओ - बाज़ार में घूमूँ।
Mazaj-e-ashiqee daram paye मिज़ाज है आशिक़ाना,
dildar megardam खोजता दिलदार मैं घूमूँ।।
Khudaya rahm kon bar man ख़ुदाया रहम कर मुझ पर,
Pareeshan waar megardam परीशांवार मैं घूमूँ।।
Khata karam gonahgaram ख़ता की है, गुनह्गार हूँ।
Ba hale zaar megardam ब-हाल-ए-ज़ार मैं घूमूँ।।
Sharabe showq menosham शराब-ए-शौक़ पी मैंने
Ba girde yaar megardam है, गिर्द-ए-यार मैं घूमूँ।।
Sukhan mastana megoyam करूँ बहकी हुई बातें
Walay hooshyaar megardam मगर, हुशियार मैं घूमूँ।।
English Translation (Farah Aziz):
No I am not roaming aimlessly
around the streets and bazaar
I am a lover searching for his beloved
God have mercy on me
I am walking around troubled
I have done wrong and sinned
and am walking around wounded
I have drunk the wine of desire
and am strolling around beloved
Though I may seem drunk
I am quite sober
