Worth Watching Abhinaya
PRANA SANGINI RE....
Written by Banamali Das (1720-1793) during the Bhakti Movement, this beautiful
poem is a description of Krishna's amorous mischief from the point of view of his lover.
The bashful lover tells her best friend how Krishna came disguised as a beautiful
woman to her house, under the pretext of applying 'alta' on her feet.
She doesn't realise it in the beginning, but when she does, she pretends to be upset
with him and to her embarrassment, Krishna falls on her feet seeking forgiveness.
"Oh my beloved friend, You will not believe what happened to me the other day..."
NAMRATA MEHTA
The above poem has been beautifully portrayed in Odissi dance form by talented
danseuse Namrata Mehta a worthy disciple of Guru Daksha Mashruwala who
herself is an illustrious disciple of the legendary Guru Kelu Charan Mahapatra.
