Purandara Dasa (c. 1484 – c. 1565) was a Haridasa philosopher
and a follower of Madhwacharya 's Dwaitha philosophy -saint from
present-day Karnataka, India. He was a composer, singer and one
significant contributions to Carnatic music, he is widely referred to
as the Pitamaha of Carnatic music.
About the Performance: This video is released as a
Singles Video from the first Digital Concert, Mandolin & Beyond
2021, as an Annual Tribute Concert celebrating the Legacy of
Padmashri. U. Shrinivas.
The concert was organised by Arte Compass in association with
SIOWM, supported by Agrocorp International and National Arts
Council, Singapore. A Singapore-India collaborative concert,
showcasing young Singaporean talents Sreeranjani Muthu
Subramanian (vocal), Surup Sowmithri Thathachar (Violin),
Kishan Hebbar (Violin & Tabla), Shreya Murthy ( Bharatnatyam)
all recipients of the Mandolin U Shrinivas International Award.
They were mentored by world renowned Indian musicians
Mandolin U. Rajesh and Anil Shrinivasan (Keys).
This single is Venkatahcla Nilayam, composed by Purandaradasa
in Ragam Sindhu Bhairavi set to Adi Talam. Shreya Murthy is
trained by renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Priyadarsini Govind
who also choreographed this piece.
