Mustafa Zaidi (1930-1970) was a modern Urdu poet
who wrote Urdu ghazals as well as Urdu poems.
This beautiful and moving Urdu ghazal has a modern
sensibility. Mustafa Zaidi has a wonderfully sensitive
and personal feeling in this ghazal.

This ghazal was sung by Musarrat Nazir sometime in the
1980's or 1990's when she visited Lahore, Pakistan from
Toronto, Canada. This ghazal was set to a bueautiful musical
composition and broadcast from the official government of
Pakistan TV channel (PTV).

चले तो कट ही जाएगा सफ़र आहिस्ता आहिस्ता 
हम उसके पास जाते हैं मगर आहिस्ता आहिस्ता 

अभी तारों से खेलो चांद की किरनों से इठलाओ 
मिलेगी उसके चेहरे की सहर आहिस्ता आहिस्ता 

दरीचों को तो देखो चिलमनों के राज़ तो समझो 
उठेंगे पर्दा-हा-ए-बाम-ओ-दर आहिस्ता आहिस्ता 

ज़माने भर की कैफ़ियत सिमट आएगी साग़र में 
पियो उन अँखड़ियों के नाम पर आहिस्ता आहिस्ता 

यूं ही इक रोज़ अपने दिल का क़िस्सा भी सुना देना
