तक रही आकाश, धरती विरहिणी,
व्यथित उर व्याकुल बिछाए। 

तमाल कुञ्जों की सजल छाया घिरे पथ में,
जग रही नयनों में करुणा रागिनी।

गूंथ रक्खी हैं बकुल कलियाँ,
मिलन की वंशी बजाती निज अजिर में। 

लाओ तुम साथ अपनी मन्दिरा;
बजे चञ्चल नृत्य में फिर छन्द-लय। 

बजे कंकण, बजे किंकिणि, बजे नूपुर 
और हों मञ्जीर झंकृत रुनक-झुन।।

English Translation:

                     O Dark Beauty, come upon us,

Let your elixir-presence rid heat and thirst.

The lovelorn earth gazes at the skies.

She awaits you laying down her aching heart

                  On pathways in moist shades of Tamal groves,

                  There’s a soulful tune in her eyes.

She has woven Bakul* buds,

Her flute plays on the note of union in the courtyard.

                  Bring with you your Mandira,**

                  To ring to the playful beat of the great dance—

                  Bangles will jangle, waistband will jingle,

                  Ringing anklets will continue to tinkle.

*Bakul is a sweet scented tiny flower
