आमार निताइ चाँदेर बाजारे.../ भब पागला / मंसूर फ़क़ीर

Bhaba Pagla (1902-1984) was a Bengali lyricist, composer, 
devotee of Goddess Kali and spiritual master of many dedicated 
souls. He is held in high esteem in Bengali folk culture. Perhaps 
his conventional education did not exceed the primary level in 
school but his creations, mostly lyrics, had been sunk into a deep 
inner meaning and located in a high thought though common 
words used for cultural expression. The lyrics also had been 
composed by him with easy harmony to entertain the mass. 

Mansoor Fakir from Gorbhanga (Ajahar Fakir's Majar), Nadia,
one of the finest folk singers of Bengal. Mansur Fakir is one
of the modern day torchbearer of Lalon Fakir legacy.
Mansur lives in a small village in Nadia district named 
Gorbhanga that borders Bangladesh. 

Fakirs of Bengal : 

Ever since Islam came to Bengal in the 13th century it participated, via a merging 

of Sufi inputs with vernacular strands of Vaisnavism (Vishnuism), tantrism and local 

folk cults, in a very rich blend of religious beliefs and practices in the lower strata 

of the society. The Fakir (Sufi ascetic), as a sub-section of the Bengali Bául with a 

more or less defined Muslim identity, are at present the largest group in Bengal 

perpetuating this form of 'Islamic syncretistic tradition'.

Lalan Shah or Lalan Fakir (1772-1890) is a product and proponent of purely 

Bengali syncretism. His writings and his teachings tell a story of merging Hinduism 

and Islam into a universalistic religion transcending the boundaries of any single 

religion.

आर, काठुरिया मानिक चेने ना

आबार, नेय सेथा परख करे

ENGLISH TRANSLATION : 
To my court of Nitai Chaand and at Gaur Chaand bazar one who has only steady mind can go if you are double-minded you will fall between two fires and won’t be able to go to other side 40 kilograms makes a maund if there is any shortage of gram then the lender doesn’t incline to accept this I say, there is waiting another judge who supports Radha Rani to cross the bar moreover, a woodcutter can’t distinguish the diamond and a bullock in the sugar mill does not get the taste of sugar besides, a gold smith can identify gold and he can emerge as a good assayer too If someone does not know the primary method of making a specific sweet out of molasses so how he can make that? again the theory of purport of Bhaba Pagla how mass people would know the technique?
